Skincare specialist wages in the Jacksonville metro
BLS reported 660 skincare specialist jobs and a median wage of $23.89 an hour in the Jacksonville, FL metro area in May 2025. The annual median was $49,700 for occupation 39-5094. See the BLS Jacksonville OEWS table. These figures describe the occupation across experience levels, so use them as context when reviewing an offer.
The BLS regional release explains that OEWS excludes self-employed workers. A salon business therefore needs a separate budget. Ask employers about paid hours, commission, tips and supplies before comparing compensation with these survey figures.
Published esthetics tuition and ways to pay
Parisian lists $5,185.05 tuition and $5,500 total for its 300-hour course. KCK posts $2,800 tuition and $4,270 total. Both are program-page figures checked October 27, 2026. FCTC’s 2026-27 sheet separates $536.80 tuition from lab charges and fees; its published total is $2,220.79. Request an itemized agreement before paying.
Ask about Pell through FAFSA for an eligible course. KCK identifies Full Specialist among its aid-eligible programs; FSCJ marks its facial certificate ineligible. Veterans can check the exact campus and course with the VA comparison tool. Contact CareerSource Northeast Florida, the local American Job Center network, about WIOA screening and eligible training. Funds depend on your eligibility, the course and available resources. If an employer offers tuition payment, get its work commitment and repayment terms in writing.
Florida calls this credential a facial specialist registration. DBPR describes facial services as treating or massaging the face or scalp with preparations such as creams, oils and lotions. A full specialist can also perform nail specialist services. Choose your course by the services you want to provide, then confirm the registration category with the school.
Do facial specialists take a Florida state exam?
The Florida cosmetology examination is not required for facial specialist registration, according to the DBPR application checklist. You still need to complete the school program and submit your completion and eligibility documents. A school may test your classroom knowledge and practical work before graduation, so ask how its own assessments work.
How long are local facial specialist courses?
Hours and calendar time differ. FSCJ’s 2026-27 roadmap lists 220 hours over 12 weeks, while its program webpage describes about four months. New Beauty Company publishes nine weeks for 220 hours in St Johns. Ask for actual attendance days, holiday breaks and the projected end date for your own class.
Can you take esthetics classes in the evening?
Yes. The FSCJ catalog lists North and Kent evening sections Monday through Thursday, 5-10 p.m. Parisian publishes evening classes Monday through Thursday, 5:30-9:30 p.m. Confirm the course, campus and next opening before arranging work or childcare, since a published evening schedule does not establish that a particular class has seats.
Does a short facial course qualify for federal aid?
Check the exact program before filling out a payment agreement. FSCJ labels its facial certificate not financial aid eligible, and New Beauty Company says it does not participate in federal Title IV aid. KCK lists Full Specialist among programs offering aid to qualifying students. A school offering aid does not mean every course qualifies.
